The importance and need for energy efficiency in buildings is well understood. Also, the contribution of energy required for HVAC (particularly for cooling in Indian context) in buildings is known to be the most significant. Despite of being energy efficient and economical; the use of radiant cooling has been limited in India. However, now there are few good examples of such systems and there exists some experience in designing and operating. Lack of detailed understanding of system, lack of design and simulation capabilities, limited knowledge on integration with the building and rest of the HVAC system, are some of the major barriers in scaling up of radiant cooling systems installations in buildings.

To address these barriers, the Indo-Swiss Building Energy Efficiency Project (BEEP) in collaboration with ASHRAE India Chapter & Delhi Chapter of ISHRAE, is organizing a training on “Design and Simulation of Radiant Cooling Systems". The aim of the training programme is to help Indian professionals involved in designing of HVAC systems and working on energy simulation to enhance their knowledge on radiant cooling system and be in a better position to design and implement radiant cooling systems in building projects they are involved in.

Mr Pierre Jaboyedoff (Partner, Effin'Art Sarl, Switzerland) is a senior engineer specializing in energy-efficient buildings and solar energy applications with over 30 years of experience in the field. His expertise in the development and application of high-performance, innovative, and climate-responsive solutions ranges from industry to data centers, including university campus and large office buildings such as Rolex Learning Center and the National Office for Statistics. He also has vast experience from India and worked on various projects since early 1980s. Since 2008, he has been heading the Project Management and Technical Unit of Indo-Swiss BEEP.
