The aim of the seminar is to disseminate experience of integrated design for designing energy-efficient buildings with builders, building professionals, local authorities, and policy makers.
Drawing on Switzerland’s historical experience in the field, BEEP aims at promoting energy efficient building design through the organisation of Integrated Design Charrettes (interdisciplinary design workshops) for 24 large commercial building projects. over a five-year period (2012-2016). The Integrated Design Charrettes bring together the whole design team (architects, engineers, consultants, developers etc.) with senior Swiss specialists to develop the energy concept for the specific project. The key rationale is to tap the largest energy saving potentials at minimal cost during the early phase of building design. Integrated Design Seminars are aimed at disseminating the experience and practices from the integrated design charrettes. Specific energy efficient strategies developed for the buildings will be presented and discussed, as well as case studies on existing buildings.
This seminar is being held under the aegis of the Year of Swiss Architecture Design and Engineering (YSADE). On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Embassy’s building in New Delhi, a series of major events around architecture, engineering and design will be organized by the Swiss Embassy during 2013-14 to initiate a platform for common reflection on architecture and design and explore the potential for bilateral collaboration between India and Switzerland.
- Create awareness about integrated design and energy efficient building concepts
- Disseminate results from integrated design charrettes based on presentation of case studies
- Exchange of knowledge and experience on the integrated design process and innovative technologies and strategies adapted to Indian conditions.
The seminar is targeted at the following audience: builders, developers, local authorities, policy makers, building sector professionals (including architects, engineers, consultants, building contractors), as well as researchers and students of architecture and engineering.
