External Moveable Shading Systems or EMSYS are shading devices that are installed on the windows or glazed surfaces of a building’s façade. It controls the solar heat gain inside the building while also providing natural daylight indoors. A good quality EMSYS has great potential to reduce heat ingress that comes into a building through glass by up to 80%. EMSYS have significant impact on how thermally comfortable a building can be and further results in significant reduction in the air-conditioning/HVAC load which consume a lot of energy. These external shading devices can come in a variety of forms and can be used depending on the kind of window or glazing that it will be mounted on.
